Creating a YouTube Channel and Automating Video Production: A Step-by-Step Guide

Welcome to this exciting new video! Today, we’re diving deep into the world of YouTube automation, specifically focusing on building a YouTube channel around product list-style videos. I’ll be documenting every step, from creating the channel, designing the visuals, and generating content, all while using AI tools to make the process faster and easier. I’ll also share some live updates on my progress, so stay tuned!

Step 1: Creating the Channel

Let’s kick things off by creating the YouTube channel. After signing up for a new account, we need to decide on a name that is simple yet catchy. To help with that, I’m heading over to Google Gemini, an AI tool that can assist in generating ideas. I asked it to suggest names for a YouTube channel that produces list-style videos around the best products, and after going through some of the playful suggestions, I settled on “Best Things Ever.” It's simple, fun, and memorable. I’ll use this as the channel name.

Step 2: Designing the Channel Banner and Profile Picture

Now, it's time to design the visuals for the channel. For the banner, I’m going to use Canva, a great free tool with tons of templates. I found a playful one that perfectly matches the tone of our channel. I’ll customize the template by adding the channel name, “Best Things Ever,” and in the subheading, I’ll write “Top Lists of the Best Products Ever.” Although the original template has a red background, I prefer blue, so I’ll change it accordingly before exporting it as the YouTube Banner.

For the profile picture, I’ll also use Canva. I’ll create a new 1000x1000 pixel document, copy the text from the banner, and adjust it to fit within the frame. The background will remain blue to keep things consistent. Once that’s done, I’ll export it as the profile picture.

Step 3: Researching Video Topics with AI

Before jumping into video production, we need to ensure our videos will get views. To do this, I’ll use a free tool called WordStream, which provides data on how many people are searching for specific products. I’ll also use Google Gemini again to ask what the most in-demand consumer products are right now. Once it gives me broad categories, like laptops and computers, I’ll head back to WordStream, input a category like “best laptops,” and it will provide me with various video topic ideas.

For example, some ideas include “best gaming laptops,” “best Dell laptops,” and “laptops under $500.” Alongside the ideas, WordStream also shows the search volume for each topic, which helps identify which topics are likely to attract the most views. For instance, “gaming laptops” receives around 450,000 searches per month, while “laptops under $500” gets 74,000. This data shows that creating videos around these topics has a higher likelihood of getting views.

Step 4: Automating Video Creation with AI

For the first video on the channel, I’ve decided to create a video about the best gaming laptops. To speed up the video production process, I’ll use a tool called Nvideo AI. This tool allows us to automate a large portion of the process, including creating a script and generating visuals.

To get started, I’ll select “YouTube Explainer” from the available templates and choose a video length of 10 minutes. Then, I’ll input a prompt that instructs the AI to create a product list video about the top five best gaming laptops. Since the AI doesn’t know exactly what the top five laptops are, I’ll include a link to an article that lists the best gaming laptops. The AI will use the information from that article to build the video.

Next, I’ll choose the voiceover for the video. For simplicity, I’ll select a clear American male voice. Alternatively, you could clone your own voice using Nvideo AI’s voice cloning feature, which adds a personal touch to the video. This feature is available in the paid version, which also removes watermarks and provides additional features.

After generating the video, I’ll review the script and visuals. The AI does an excellent job with the voiceover and script, but some of the visuals might need improvement. I’ll replace any low-quality or irrelevant images with more relevant ones. This is easily done by searching for high-quality images and videos of the products online and uploading them into Nvideo AI to replace the placeholders.

One important element that must not be overlooked is adding affiliate links to the video description. This way, when viewers are interested in purchasing the products featured in the video, they can easily find the links, and you can earn a commission through affiliate marketing.

I recommend using Amazon’s Affiliate Program. Signing up is simple, and there are no strict requirements. Just make sure to have a link to your YouTube channel ready, as Amazon will ask for it during the application process. After signing up, search for the products mentioned in your video, such as the Razer Blade 15, on Amazon. Copy the affiliate links and add them to the description of your video, making sure to specify that these are affiliate links for transparency.

Step 6: Uploading the Video and Optimizing for Clicks

With the video and affiliate links ready, it’s time to upload the video to the channel. After uploading, I’ll need to create a compelling title and thumbnail to attract viewers. For the title, I’ll use a format like “Top 5 Best Gaming Laptops of 2024.” Keeping the title simple and clear helps viewers understand what the video is about instantly.

For the thumbnail, I’ll head back to Canva and select a YouTube thumbnail template. It’s a good practice to include an image of one of the products featured in the video. Consistency in your thumbnail design is key, so using a similar color palette and style across all videos will help with branding and recognition.
